Case Study: R.M. Williams
The Background
RM Williams manufacturing plant was faced with the prospect of having to spend $300,000 to upgrade their electrical infrastructure, purely to enable the addition of new manufacturing equipment. This upgrade would have delivered no energy or cost savings to the business.
Instead, RM Williams engaged EnergyWise to install voltage optimisation and power factor correction equipment covering the whole manufacturing site.
The Outcome
The project delivered 13% whole site energy consumption savings and a 16% electrical demand reduction, with a financial return on investment of 49% p.a.
It also provided the electrical capacity savings required to install the new manufacturing equipment. This saved RM Williams the $300,000 in electrical infrastructure expense, on top of the ongoing electricity cost savings.
