Going up against a strong suite of contending projects for the Green Energy category – including the eventual winning large-scale AngloGold Ashanti-backed Tropicana Expansion from Pacific Energy – EnergyWise was able to take an incredible second place at the 2025 NECA National Excellence Awards and was highly commended for our energy saving project at Ashcroft’s IGA, which was the NSW state winner earlier this year.
Our project covered the whole scope of delivery, including the design, supply, installation and management of a comprehensive energy saving initiative that realised $68,500 in annual electricity savings – a ~40% reduction in energy use – and a reduction of carbon emissions to the tune of ~330 tonnes per year.
The project involved a comprehensive review of the store’s operations and usage, integrating LED lighting, solar PV, voltage optimisation, building automation, HVAC, and refrigeration controls to improve usage and performance.
Along with the decreased energy costs, close to $100,000 in annual reductions have been achieved with far less spoilage of fresh meat, fruit and vegetables, and a better customer experience through improved visibility of stock and signage.
“Wadan and his team were outstanding to deal with. The proposal was terrific, through to the implementation and the final result. Would highly recommend them for any future projects.”
